The 26th of January, our Republic Day, is a red-letter day as the constitution of free India came into effect. We at Nazareth School, Balmatta Mangaluru celebrated the 74th Republic Day with great eclat. All Nazarene gathered to celebrate the relentless efforts made by the people of our nation.
The celebration took place on the Nazareth ground as every member of the fraternity found their heart filled with joy and a feeling of immense pride. The guests were welcomed with a guard of honour by the School band headed by Khatheeja Ridha of grade IX.
The honourable guests for the programme were Mr. Sylvester Mascarenhas, He worked for 34 years under the ministry of defence and Rev Sr. Marceline D’Souza, the principal of Nazareth School, the Management Sisters with school academic coordinator Mrs. Precilla Veigas.
The Chief guest Mr. Sylvester Mascarenhas hoisted the Tricolour in the Open Air, in the presence of Students, teachers, parents along with the Physical education teachers. The National Anthem was sung by all present as flowers descended from the unfurled flag.
Our young eaglets from Classes 1 to 7 showcased their enthusiasm and zeal by reminiscing the bravery and patriotism of our great freedom fighters. Students highlighted the importance of the constitution and the celebrations with their patriotic songs, dance, and short speeches followed by the captured March Past as part of a ceremonial occasion. The students of Nazareth exhibited their unity by performing a mass drill filled the hearts of the audience with patriotic favour. It was captivating to see students in tricolour attires.
Mr. Sylvester Mascarenhas, reminded audience that as the largest democracy in the world, we must always contribute in celebrating diversity that is the hallmark of this great nation. Addressing the students, he said that as future stakeholders of this country, students must guard the freedom that they are born with, and use it for betterment of society.
Welcome addressed by Adwaith of VI A. Greeshma grade V B delivered the Vote of thanks.
The programme was compered by Master Feraz Ahmed grade VII.
After the ceremony, sweets were distributed to the students.
